Papa Bear Crafts

The picture I have attached is of Brian's two lathes.  The one in the background is his old one and the green one in front is a bigger one with some bowl making chisels to work with.  The rounds of wood that you see on each lathe is not a whole log, but a split half  of a log with the heart of the wood cut out and discarded.  He then takes the halves and trims them in a roundish shape with his chainsaw and this is what you start with.  And this is what you are seeing in the attached picture.  From here he roughs out a bowl shape and then the curing process begins.  After the roughed out bowls have been cured & set aside to dry out and are finally ready to work, he again puts them on the lathe and finishes them. To the left is his tool bench and to the right is the door.
